Linear Gate Installation in Anaheim: What to Know First

Linear gate installation in Anaheim typically runs between $1,800 and $6,500 for a complete single swing or slide gate with operator, and most jobs are quoted within 48 hours and installed within one to two weeks. That is the honest range, and it depends almost entirely on gate size, actuator choice, and what the existing posts and hinges look like. As an independent Linear service provider, we are not affiliated with Linear by any corporate arrangement, but we have installed and repaired their operators across Anaheim for more than 42 years and know exactly how they behave in this climate.

If you own a Linear actuator, a Linear control board, or a full Linear gate kit and need it installed on a driveway, pedestrian gate, or estate entrance, this page tells you what to expect before the first call. For a free estimate at your Anaheim property, call (424) 395-3381. We will come out, look at the gate and the existing operator, and give you a written price before any work starts.

How Linear Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Linear has made a lot of different operator lines over the years, and the older Anaheim installations tell us exactly where each one gets tired. We see the same five issues again and again.

  • Linear LRA and LRB series swing arm operators: stripped limit cams and worn clutch plates. These residential swing arms live outdoors, and after five or six Anaheim summers the plastic limit cam gears inside the housing get brittle and skip teeth. The arm still moves, but it no longer stops in the right place, and the gate smacks the post or refuses to close all the way. The fix is a new limit assembly and clutch adjustment, done on site, usually the same visit.
  • Linear SL and SLD slide gate operators: drive chain stretch and idler wear from hard-water dust. Anaheim sits on some of the hardest municipal water in Orange County, and when landscaping sprinklers hit a slide gate track, the water evaporates and leaves mineral film on the chain. Stretched chain plus caked idler sprockets equals a gate that jerks and overloads the motor. We replace the chain, true the sprockets, and re-tension the drive. The motor almost always survives if we catch it in time.
  • Linear APeX and MegaCode receivers: antenna corrosion and frequency drift. The antenna wire on the APeX series runs outside the sealed case, and the copper wick in that connection corrodes after a few damp winters. The remote works from three feet away and nowhere else. We replace the antenna stub, re-crimp the connection, and clear the receiver to re-learn remotes. Cheap fix, and we can usually see it from the driveway before opening the case.
  • Linear gate kits with included photo eyes: misaligned or sun-blinded sensors. The photo eyes Linear includes in their kits are reliable but sensitive to the low winter sun angles we get in Anaheim, especially on west-facing gates in neighborhoods like The Colony or West Anaheim. The beam falses, the gate reverses, and the homeowner thinks the board is dead. We realign, shroud the sensor housing, and test through a full open-close cycle at the worst time of day.
  • Linear actuator control boards: capacitor failure on VS and LS models. The smoothing and start capacitors on the older VS and LS series boards fail quietly. The board still lights up, so it looks fine, but the gate hums and will not move. A new board is the honest repair when the capacitor is soldered to the board, but on models with standalone caps we replace the cap and save the customer a few hundred dollars. We always show you the failed part before we replace it.

Our Linear Gate Installation Process

Every Linear installation we do in Anaheim follows the same path, whether it is a new driveway gate in Anaheim Hills or a replacement operator on a pedestrian gate in West Anaheim.

  1. 1
Measure and load calculation. We measure the gate leaf, weigh the actual load or calculate it from the panel type, and check the hinge posts and pier depth. A Linear operator sized wrong is a warranty claim waiting to happen, so we get this right the first time.
  2. 2
Parts decision: OEM vs quality aftermarket. Linear OEM parts keep the manufacturer warranty intact, and we use them wherever the actuator is still under warranty or the customer asks. For older out-of-warranty models, we use known-good aftermarket parts from suppliers we have used for decades, and we tell you the difference before we buy anything.
  3. 3
Installation day. We set or reinforce the post, mount the actuator, run and seal the low-voltage wiring and the power feed, and install the photo eyes, safety edges, and any keypad or intercom you have chosen. We do not leave exposed wire or loose conduit on any job.
  4. 4
Limits, force, and safety test. We set the open and close limits, tune the obstruction sensitivity to the actual gate weight, and test the photo eyes and edges with a physical obstruction. This is the step that separates a gate that works from a gate that injures someone or burns a motor in six months.
  5. 5
Cleanup and walkthrough. We sweep the work area, explain what we did, hand you the remotes, and answer any question you have. None of this is a rushed handoff.
  6. 6
Written guarantee. Every Linear installation carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If it is not right, we come back and make it right. No arguing, no paperwork.

What Linear Gate Installation Costs in Anaheim

Here is what we charge for the most common Linear scenarios in Anaheim, in plain numbers. These are installed prices including the operator, basic hardware, and the safety package.

  • Single swing gate with a new Linear LRA-series arm, standard steel panel, existing posts reused: $1,800 to $2,800
  • Double swing gate with a pair of Linear LRA arms and a new steel or aluminum panel set: $3,200 to $5,200
  • Sliding driveway gate, 12 to 20 feet, with a Linear SL-series chain drive, new track and hardware: $3,500 to $6,500
  • Pedestrian gate with a Linear kit, including post, latch, and standalone actuator: $1,200 to $2,200
  • Replacement of an existing Linear operator, same posts and gate, labor and parts: $1,100 to $2,400

What moves the price: gate size and weight, whether we pour new posts or reuse the existing ones, how far the power run is from the nearest live circuit, and whether you add a keypad, intercom, or vehicle sensor. The price we quote is the price you pay, agreed before any work starts. Victor Salinas has been pricing these jobs in Anaheim for over two decades, and there are no surprises on the invoice. Why Anaheim Homeowners Call Ironworks Gate Co. for Linear Work

Most of the Linear operators in Anaheim were installed by general contractors or handymen who did the gate as a side item on a bigger job. The actuator was mounted, wired, and left. Nobody set the force properly, nobody sealed the conduit, and nobody came back when the gate started limping six months later. That is the job we end up fixing.

We have been doing this work since 1984, and we are still doing it in the same neighborhoods. We know where the hard water eats chains, where the afternoon sun blinds photo eyes, and which Anaheim subdivisions have gate posts set too shallow for the weight of the panel. We are trained and equipped on nine opener brands, including Linear, LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing, so when an older Linear operator is no longer worth repairing, we can move you to the right replacement without guessing. Every job, repair or installation, gets the written 90-Day Done Right Promise. A live person answers the phone 24 hours a day, which we think matters for a gate that refuses to close on a Sunday evening.
