• The gate opens from the keypad but not consistently from the intercom. On Linear AE-series panels, the audio relay and the gate relay are on separate circuits. If calling the house rings but opening the gate doesn’t work, the gate relay itself has failed, and we can often replace just that relay and the driver transistor rather than the entire board.
• The keypad lights up but nothing happens at the gate. The keypad’s transmitter still has power but the radio output stage is dead. This is common on units older than eight years. The fix is a new keypad matched to your opener’s frequency, and yes, Linear uses different frequencies across product lines, so blind substitution fails often.
• The housing is cracked, cloudy, or the numbers have worn smooth. UV damage in Anaheim is relentless. A cracked housing lets moisture into the board, and moisture is what kills electronics. We replace the housing and cartridge as a set. It is not worth gluing or caulking a cracked keypad.
